Also known as a chiropractic adjustment, it serves to promote proper joint function and movement. This is done by manually applying a controlled force to specific joints, most commonly of the spine, that are hypomobile, or not moving properly. Mobility is restored, consequently relieving pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal. There are many different adjusting techniques used by chiropractors, and it is our responsibility as your doctor to identify what might work best for you. And if we feel that another office might have a better technique or service for you, we will refer you there. The techniques utilized at Be Well include Diversified, Activator, Thompson Drop, Webster, and Flexion/Distraction.

Laura Williamson–RYT200; M.S. Exercise Sports Studies (they/them). A lifelong athlete with a history of injury, Laura began taking yoga classes consistently in 2015 for the same reason many people find themselves on the mat–to relieve chronic pain and long held patterns of muscular tension in the spine, shoulders, and hips; and to reduce the felt anxiety caused by the stressors of everyday life. Having only known a high speed mentality and high impact demand for the body and mind while competing and coaching in collegiate athletics, it took nurturing a patient attitude and self-compassion to give permission to slow down long enough to gain an awareness and understanding for what the body and mind needed to unwind and to heal.

Stepping away from collegiate coaching in 2019, Laura began a deeper inquiry into Yoga philosophy and practice earning their RYT200 in 2020, guided by teacher and spouse (Courtney Morgan RYT-500). Laura is currently studying to earn their RYT-500 with a concentration in yoga therapy with teachers Tias and Surya Little at Prajna Yoga in Santa Fe, NM. It is through a therapeutic lens that Laura approaches their teaching. With an emphasis on lengthening muscle fibers to create space for the reconnection of the neurological pathways responsible for firing those muscles, students will find that this approach to asana eases chronic pain while sustainably building strength and stabilization from the center out.

Laura and her partner, Courtney Morgan, co-founded Insight Sangha PVD in June 2023. A 100% donation based mindfulness meditation group, IS:PVD focuses on holding space and offering teachings and guidance for those interested in nurturing a meditation practice and mindful life. Laura teaches gentle movement sequences to open each session to help prepare bodies and minds to settle into seated meditation practice with more ease.

Laura resides in Providence with their partner Courtney and sweet orange tabby, Fredrik.
